Working for Associated Students had its perks: there were 5 or 6 big concerts a year, and we got to design the concert posters. I took for granted the amount of creative freedom I had here, as well as the amount of alloted time to make it happen. I get creative projects at my current position, but I’m never as free as I was working on these concert posters.

Overnight Prints offered a great deal on postcards in February: get 100 free and pay only for shipping (about $9 for me). I have a friend that ordered 9 or 10 sets. I decided it was too good to pass up, and that I should do some design work. So, I put these two pieces together (sequentially) and had a good time doing it.

Perpetually Dehydrated 1Perpetually Dehydrated

I downloaded Blender, an open source 3D modeling suite (sweet) to make the fish hook. I haven’t modeled in awhile, but after a couple of tutorials I had enough down to make a simple object like a fish hook.

I built the greener postcard first.  I was happy with it, but I didn’t feel that it communicated what was going on very well, and naturally after I put in several hours of work I realized what I should have been doing in the first place: thus the second (bluer) postcard.

Perpetually Dehydrated is where I’m going to set up shop (eventually).  I’ll probably move my blog and portfolio there as well.  I’m in no real hurry to do this, if you try visiting it you’ll just find the goDaddy parking page (as I’m writing this anyway).

I also finished a website for Aromatica Organics recently. It’s pretty bare right now, but they want to plug in a social recipe-sharing network, so I built the framework for it and am waiting for the go ahead (read: paycheck) to start setting that up. Should be fun.
